Officers filed suit after an altercation at Ms. Spears on Monday. The Ventura State Sheriff's Office said it would forward the results of its investigation to prosecutors to investigate criminal charges against the battery. The singer's lawyers denied the allegations, calling them "exaggerated."
The California criminal battery is a criminal offense that involves intentional and unlawful physical contact with another person. Spears, 39, handed a cell phone out of his team member's hand during a meeting.
In a statement sent to, his lawyer Mathew S. Rosengart said it was "nothing more than made up," he said, "about the mobile phone, there was no beating and what appears to be no injury.
"Anyone can file a claim, but it must be closed immediately," he said.
"The sheriff's office itself agreed with the admission that the incident was classified as a 'very minor offense ...' and affirmed that 'no one was harmed.' Ms. Spears hired Mr. Rosengart last month as he tried to end his father's control over his life and finances 13 years after he took rule of the law when his mental health issues were brought up.
Last week, Jamie Spears agreed to step down as her daughter's curator and pledged to participate in an "orderly transition" to a new legal deal.
