- Britney Spears said she is currently "on cloud nine," which appears to be a response from a judge removing her father as her conservator.
- The singer posted a flying lesson video shortly after news that Jamie Spears' role had been discontinued.
Spears' attorney Matthew Rosengart said his "hope and hope" was that the Conservatives would be fully suspended at the Nov. 12 hearing. Through his lawyer, Jamie Spears described the decision as "disappointing." Cher and Dionne Warwick were among those who welcomed the judge's decision.
"This will be the start of a new life for England," Cher wrote on Twitter as Warwick posted a video showing her "full support." "My heart is with Britney Spears," said the veteran soul star. "I can feel his pain. How can anyone accept what he's been through?" LaToya Jackson added, "Congratulations to Britney Spears!!!"
At a hearing in Los Angeles, Judge Brenda Penny formally ended the star's conservation deal with her father since 2008.
She left a separate conservatory with John Zabel, an accountant chosen by the singer's legal department. Judge Penny ordered that the singer's care "immediately" be handed over to Mr. Zabel, saying it was "in the best interest of the Conservatives."
Spears' lawyer called for a new hearing over the next 30 to 45 days to decide whether to end conservatism altogether, and Mr. Rosengart added, "Britney doesn't think a mental assessment is necessary, and I certainly don't. Pandora Sykes, the host of the BBC Sounds podcast "Pieces of Britney," told Radio 4's Today show it was "good news" that conservatism would remain for now.
A recent documentary claims that a private security film made by Mr. Spears puts her daughter under constant surveillance. "By removing it, they can see everything before they hope to end [conservatism] in November," Sykes said. Spears told JL — her sister Jamie-Lynn's initials in her Instagram post — that she was "bringing the boat home."
Her older sister used the exact phrase in a recent post for the North Atlanta Knockouts, a softball team for girlsEarlier this year, Britney Spears made explosive accusations that she had abused her position, claiming that her father and team had repeatedly denied it.
In a statement released Thursday, Spears' lawyer said he loved his daughter "unconditionally" and was "trying to do what was in her best interest." "These facts make yesterday's trial even more disappointing and, frankly, a loss for Britney," continued Vivian L. Thorin.
"The court made the mistake of stopping Mr. Spears from putting a foreigner in his place to manage Britney's estate and extending the same conservative responsibilities that Britney requested from the court earlier this summer. "Despite the suspension, Mr. Spears will continue to look after his daughter's health and work in good faith to resolve any issues positively."
