He was born in Nicaragua, on January 10, 1953. His father name is Alfredo Pellas Chamorro and Carmen Chamorro Benard. He studied at Colegio Centro América.
Carlos Pellas Chamorro is chairman of Grupo Pellas, a holding company with investments in the financial, agro energy, tourism, technology, automotive, health, telecommunications, real estate, entertainment, and insurance industries. He is the board chairman at BAC Florida Bank and has previously served as head of the Nicaraguan Chamber of Industries.
Pellas Chamorro has a BA (economics), an MA (food research), and an MBA from Stanford University. He has received many awards, including the Nicaraguan-American Chamber of Commerce's Business Excellence Award and the Stella Della Solidarietá Italiana's Order in Grande Ufficiale from the Italian Government.

In 2008, Pellas was owned by the Honorary Consul of Italy in Granada, Nicaragua. The American Nicaraguan Chamber of Commerce(AMCHAM) awarded him the Business Excellence Award-2012.
