In	'One	Phone	Call', the	lead	actress	of	Portuguese	and	Austrian	origins	Ana	K.	Cruz stars	as
an undercover investigator, who	uses	her	charm and	allure to	gain	the	trust	and	attention	of
her	suspect,	played	by	Indian	actor	Twesh	Swain.	The	short	film	explores	a	meeting	between
the	two	characters,	which	starts	out	as	a	flirtatious,	seemingly	harmless	nightly	encounter	at
a	bar that	turns	into	an	intense	confrontation and	a	matter	of	life	or	death.
In	this role,	the	lead	actress	explores	both	sides of	her	character - while	in	the	beginning	she
portrays	to	be	a charming	and	delightful,	nearly	naive	woman, this	stands	in	direct
opposition	to	the	powerful	woman	she	turns	into	once	she	reveals	her	true	identity,	an
assertive	and	fearless	woman	who	knows	she	is	in	control and	will	go	as	far	as	it	takes	to
succeed	at	her	mission	saving	thousands	of innocent	lives.

Ana	K.	Cruz’s	nuanced	work	in	this	film	derives	from	the precise	preparation	for	the	project
and	tremendous	dedication	to	her	work,	“In	my	approach	to	acting,	it	is	important	to	me
that	I embody	the	characters	I	play	as	the	multi-dimensional,	complex	human	beings	that
we are.”,	says	the	actress	about	her	work.	She	adds,	“With this	project	particularly,	I	wanted
to	dive	into	the	mindset	of	this	incredibly	versatile woman	whose	career	is	extremely
demanding	and	the	stakes	are	always	high. Under	the pressing	circumstances of	the
portrayed	situation, I	wanted to	highlight	not	only	her	strength,	resilience	and	adaptability,
but	also	the	humanity in	her.	She´s someone	who	listens	and	cares,	who	is	tough	but	knows
when	to	show compassion,	and	who	will	go	to	any	lengths	to	save	the	lives	of	innocent
people.”.

Ana's	acting	skills	have	been	appreciated	by	the	director	of	the	film	Francesca	Ling as	well	as
her	fellow	actor	Twesh	Swain,	"Ana	brought	an	authenticity	that	was	transcendent	of	the
page, she	could	say	so	much	with just a	glance	or	a	subtle	movement. It	made	it	easy	for	me
to	interact	and	build	upon	the	genuine	connection between	us	as	characters	and actors as
well.”,	says	Twesh.	“I	really admire Ana for	her	hard	work	and	her	meticulous	approach to
acting,	it	really	made	filming	this	project	seem	like	a	walk	in	the	park, and	the	energy	she
brings	to	set	it	not	only	fun	but	focused	and	collaborative,	wanting	the	best	possible
outcome	for	the	film.”,	he	adds. “I	do	have	to	admit,	there	were	moments	where I	was	a	bit
scared	of	her, intimidated	to	say	the	least. But	I	guess	that was	simply	part	of	her	character,
and	that again	speaks	for	her	acting	abilities.”,	says	Twesh laughingly	about	his	experience
with	Ana	on	the	set	of ‘One	Phone	Call’.

The	short	film	has	gained	recognition	from	festivals	such	as	Crown	Wood	International	Film
Festival,	where	it	won	two	awards,	and	the	Los	Angeles	Movie	Awards,	where	it	received	an
Honorable	Mention. In	today’s	world	of	storytelling,	where	attention	spans	are	becoming
shorter	and	there	is	a	vast	array	of	stories	to	choose	from,	‘One	Phone	Call’	quintessentially
depicts	how	everything	can	change	from	one	moment	to	the	next,	in	a	thrilling	and
suspenseful	twist	of	events	between	the	two	actors	involved,	whose	captivating	and
authentic performances transcend	the	screen	and	leave	a	lasting	impression	on	the
audience's	thoughts	and	feelings.
