The conservatory places finances and personal affairs under guardianship when a person is deemed incapacitated. Spears asked the court in June to remove her father from a controlling role for about $60 million. But the New York Times reports that they have been looking for a change for years.
Variety said a medical assessment was needed as part of the process to end conservation. And Jamie Spears asked the court to pay crisis communications and public relations costs from Britney's fortune.

Britney Spears called her father's control "conservative violence." She said her life, even her health, was controlled, including the inability to make fundamental decisions, such as seeing her boyfriend on vacation.
"We are delighted that Mr. Spears and his lawyers issued a statement today confirming that he should be removed. However, we are dismayed by her humiliating attacks and ongoing judgment on Ms. Spears and others," said Rosengart, who was appointed the new attorney in July.
