Tony Tan Caktiong is a Filipino businessman. Tan is the chairman and founder of Jollibee Foods Corporation and the chairman of DoubleDragon Properties.
Tony Tan Caktiong was born to Chinese parents. He went to high school at Chiang Kai Shek College and graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a diploma in Chemical engineering. Tan had initially deliberated an ice cream parlour while he founded Jollibee, then added dishes such as hamburgers, fried chicken and french fries.
Tan founded the fast-food chain Jollibee after having begun out it as an ice cream parlour in 1975. Expansion and acquisition of Greenwich Pizza Corp. enabled it to go into the pizza-pasta segment. In early 2006, Jollibee Foods Corporation sold out the ultimate shares of its companions in Greenwich Pizza Corporation, equal to a 20% stake, for P384 million in cash. As of 2008, Tan's Jollibee has a complete of 1,480 stores global, including Jollibee, Chowking, Red Ribbon, Greenwich, Manong Pepe's and Mang Inasal.
As of November 2015, Forbes predicted his net worth at US$4.1 billion. In 2012, Tan, via his holding business company, Honeystar Holdings Corporation, invested in Injap Land Corporation, a property business company based by Edgar Sia II. With Tan's entry, the business company was renamed DoubleDragon Properties Corporation.
