Why Is The Phrase "No, Lil Nas X Fiddling" Plastered All Over Our Timelines?

Key Sentence:

  • You've probably seen "No, he's fiddling" in the comments section of an Instagram post in the last 24 hours.
  • But what does that mean, and why is it trending?

The phrase means, "he's crazy," and since Lil Nas X said that about Tony Hawk, those three words are almost inevitable every time you scroll. The singer was annoyed with the legendary skateboarder who painted the board with his blood.

Let's start from the beginning...

A few months ago, Lil Nas X celebrated the release of his song Montero and presented Satan Shoes - a custom Nike Air Max 97 that has a drop of human blood on its leg. The video shows the shoe where the singer slides down the stairs to hell and dances with the devil.

They caused so many of trouble for the company and Lil Nas X, including complaints from Nike and some about alleged satanic cults. The reaction from the skateboarders was quite positive, which prompted Lil Nas X to talk about it on Twitter. He later commented on several Instagram posts where he asked what people thought of skateboarding, to which he responded with the now-embarrassing line: "No, he changed."

His comment had more than 110,000 likes, but – oddly enough – it sparked a wave of people using the exact phrase in comments on Instagram posts on the app. Some have suggested that bots are helping to speed up the trend's spread, but some quick research by the disinformation team suggests that real people are just laughing.

Influencers have to sit back and accept their fate as thousands join in on the fun, clogging up the comment area with those Three harmless words. According to the latest data from Crowdtangle, "no, he fiddled" generated more than 11 million public interactions on Instagram in the last 12 hours.

Tony Hawk hasn't responded to Lil Nas X yet, but the Instagram communications team is considering (such as): The is not responsible for the content of external sites.

Some say the singer doesn't have much reason to be excluded as there are apparent differences between her Satan shoes and Tony Hawk's skateboards - especially the fact that there is no Satanic message associated with skateboarding products.
